Tottenham Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes: We Are Just One Player Away From Becoming An Elite Club In Europe
Heurelho Gomes thinks that Tottenham Hotspur are just one player short of turning into a power in European football.
Despite a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of La Liga side Villarreal at White Hart Lane on Thursday, Gomes believes that Spurs can enjoy a successful first season in the Champions League.
Tottenham were unable to sign former Chelsea star Joe Cole, but are still looking to sign Scott Parker, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards this summer.
“I don’t know what players are coming in but I am sure the door is open for quality players,” Gomes told the Daily Star.
“For the Champions League I think we need one more quality player.
“I know how difficult it is to play in it because I have played there before but we can have a great Champions League.”
The 29-year-old Brazilian international has assured Spurs fans that the bad result against Villarreal should not be worried, as there is still time for the team to get ready for the season.
“Any fans who were not at White Hart Lane and look at the scoreline have nothing at all to worry about.
“There is still a fortnight to prepare and we have good games against Benfica then Fiorentina. We have the time to prove just how good we are.”
